Water is equally important From the 5 pillars (1)Mind set, 2) Nutrition, 3)Fitness, 4)Rest & 5)Water) to maintain good health & body 

All life on Earth uses a membrane that separates the organism from its environment. ... 

In this regard, water is essential simply because it's a liquid at Earth-like temperatures. Because it flows, water provides an efficient way to transfer substances from a cell to the cell's environment. 

Water makes up 60-75% of human body weight. 

About 70+% percent of the Earth's surface is also water 

Biological roles of water: Why is water necessary for life ? 

·       Cell life. 

·       Transport

·       Chemical reactions.

·       Temperature regulation. 

·       Waste excretion

So, what happens if you don't drink enough? Here are 10 potential health challenges if we don’t  get enough water. 

1.     Low energy 

2.      Mental fog - drinking water boosts brain health and prevents memory decline and mental drowsiness. 

If you're feeling fatigued and are spacing out, chug some water and see if it helps.

3.     High risk of stroke 

4.     Moodiness - Can make you irritable and cranky too 

5.     Over eating 

6.     Slower metabolism 

7.     Headache 

8.     Poor Skin - effects aging and makes skin look drier, flakier, wrinkled and just not as fresh as you'd like 

9.     Weaker workout - One loses electrolytes and water during workout, so it's important to drink before, during and after working out to replenish lost stores. 

10.   Weight gain - cause water retention. And likely you'll consume fewer calories from filling up on good old liquid and preventing confusion between hunger and thirst cues. 

 

Symptoms of not drinking enough water 

·       Thirst

·       Reduced sweating 

·       Reduced skin elasticity 

·       Reduced urine production 

·       Dry mouth 

·       sometimes headache 


How much water one must consume during the day 

     Approx 1 litre of water for every 20 Kg of your body weight 


Some tips, which I have adopted & teach my students, ie to make a habit to drink water during the day so you intake recommended water every day 

·       1-2 glasses as you soon as one gets up from sleep 

·       1 glass before going for bath – helped me lower BP 

·       1 glass 30 minutes before each meal helps digestion 

·       1 glass 30-45 minutes after each meal 

·       1 glass, 1 hour before sleep - to replenish any fluid loss that can occur during the night, aids in the cell renewal process during your sleep. 

·       1 glass during tea breaks 

The above regime can easily give about 2-2.5 litres in a day. Rest one can manage according to one’s body weight
